UK Study Visa: Document Requirements

To get your UK Study Visa approved, you need to submit the following documents to the UK government:

  1. Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
  2. Proof of Financial Support
  3. Valid Traveling Document
  4. Passport Photograph
  5. Proof of Home ties (mostly for those under 18 years)
  6. Statement of Purpose (SOP)

  8. Police Report

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a letter from a government-approved school in the UK that confirms you’ve been offered admission into the school (University or College). The letter will state the program you’re given, the duration of your study, your tuition fees, etc.

Proof of Financial Support

This document shows that you’re financially capable of taking care of yourself and paying your tuition during your stay in the UK. It includes your bank account statement for the past 3 months, the worth of properties (if any), tax payment history, insurance documents, etc.

If you have a sponsor, you should include the detail of the sponsor and a written letter from the sponsor. For those under the age of 18, their parent or guardian can provide the bank statement as proof of funds and will include the sponsor letter in the application.

Traveling Document

This is any document issued by the government of your country that allows you to travel. The common traveling document is the International Passport which must be one that’ll not expire within the next three months.

Passport Photograph

You need to also submit a clear photograph of your face showing your eyes and ears. This is part of the document that the UK immigration service will use to identify you.

Proof of Home Ties

This is a document that shows the ties or relationship with your home country. While the UK Study Visa allows you to come to the UK, it’s not an immigration visa or a permanent visa. So, applicants need to prove that they’ll leave the UK at the end of their studies. Applicants under 18 years can use their fathers and mothers as proof of home ties.

Police Report

This document is a report from the police in your country clearing you of any misconduct. You’ll need to obtain this document from the police and upload it to the UK immigration website as you apply for your UK study Visa.
